Chinese Remedial Massage
What Is Remedial Massage?
Remedial Chinese Massage, also known as Tuina, is a type of Chinese therapeutic massage and is an important component in Traditional Chinese Medicine. In China, it shares the same eminence as acupuncture, herbal medicine and other Chinese medical treatments.
Tuina evolved to treat paediatric problems before occidental medicine was introduced in China to help younger children overcoming the difficulties of drinking herbs or accepting acupuncture needles. It was also designed to treat some conditions that, in western medicine, usually require a physiotherapist, chiropractor or an osteopath.
Western manual therapists usually applies a certain technique on a certain condition. Tuina, however, includes a variety of handwork massage techniques that go along with the patient’s mindfulness such as breathing techniques, heat or vibration in order to achieve balance.
For this reason, Tuina is considered to be a more therapeutic extension of western massage. It also enhances acupuncture results to achieve the Yin Yang balance.

How Does It Work?
Tuina works on the muscles, bones and joints, as well as working with the deeper energy of the body through the manipulation of the flow of qi via acupressure points and energy pathways throughout the body.
Tuina was one of the earliest methods in ancient China of treating illness. It was designed to prevent problems by keeping the body’s energy in balance and health maintained. It has since undergone several thousand years of practice and development, resulting in a discipline that is unique and comprehensive, and which aligns its theory perfectly with its practice.
Tuina works on acupuncture points, focusing on nerve activity in the same way as acupuncture to enhance blood circulation and to correct abnormal anatomical changes as well as relax the muscles.

How Does It Work?
During a typical massage session, the patient wears loose clothing and no footwear. Through the application of massage and stretching techniques, Tuina uses the Traditional Chinese Medicine theories of the flow of qi to establish a balance of harmonious flow of qi and blood through the body.
This allows the natural healing process to strengthen and develop through the promotion of blood circulation.
Hot Stone Therapy
Hot Stone Therapy, inspired by the ancient Yin and Yang philosophy, is designed to alleviate pent-up stress and negative energy within your body. Utilising heated stones, this treatment skillfully dissipates tension and pressure while promoting the free flow of vital energy, known as Chi.
The result is a harmonious balance and an overall sense of well-being. Often complemented with massage, this technique enriches the standard massage experience by targeting acupressure points as well.
